The Third International Conference, The Synergy of Languages and Cultures: Interdisciplinary Studies

Dear Colleagues,

We are happy to extend this invitation to The Third International Conference, The Synergy of Languages and Cultures: Interdisciplinary Studies, to be held on 23-24 September 2021, at St Petersburg University in an online format.

We welcome speakers and delegates working in linguistics, interlingual and intercultural communication, translation studies, mass media research, sociolinguistics and teaching of foreign languages pedagogy.  The conference will include plenary and panel presentations and also workshops.

The event will be part of the International Translation Day programme at St Petersburg, launched by the Government of St Petersburg.

Conference fees

The registration fee includes participation in the conference, workshops, a certificate and also covers the costs of publishing an article in thecollection, The Synergy of Languages and Cultures: Interdisciplinary Studiesincluded in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).

For participants from outside Russia and the CIS countries, the registration fee is 3,500 RUR.  For participants from Russia and the CIS countries, the registration fee is 2,500 RUR.

Publications

As a follow-up to the conference, the collection of papers “The Synergy of Languages and Cultures: Interdisciplinary Studies” will be published and indexed in the RSCI database (editor-in-chief – Assoc. Prof. Svetlana Rubtsova, St Petersburg University). All manuscripts are reviewed; the collection will include only papers recommended for publication in the submitted form. The manuscripts, reviews of which contain assessments such as “needs improvement”, “the title does not match the content”, etc., will be rejected.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to submit papers in English for consideration in the special conference issue of The Journal of Teaching English for Specific and Academic Purposes, indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection|Scopus (editor-in-chief – Assoc. Prof. Nadezda Stojkovic, University of Niš; guest editor – Assoc. Prof. Svetlana Rubtsova, St Petersburg University). The issue has its own rates and publishes only articles that have passed blind peer review.

Requirements for abstract submissions

Abstracts should be written in Russian and/or English. Please provide from 5 to 10 key words in alphabetical order. Please do not exceed 2 pages, including a bibliography. Typesetting requirements: Times New Roman, size 12, line spacing 1.0.
